In addition to this, the meeting officially ratified the election of the members of the Executive Committee to their posts.

At the EGM, the Association also proceeded to agree a set of workstreams that have been identified as the first items to be worked on by the committee and the associated sub-committees. These were agreed as follows:

  • Technical :
    • Auditing and accounting standards
    • Tax
    • Forthcoming ICO legislation
    • GDPR
    • FSC Interfacing and Annual Fees
  • Education :
    • Membership and Professional Development
    • Broader engagement with educators to deliver New Technologies in Gibraltar
  • Social Media :
    • Membership Survey

The Association also confirmed that it is in the process of setting up a bank account and that annual fees will be invoiced shortly. Members were also encouraged to respond to on-line surveys in order for the Executive Committee to be able to use their views to raise relevant issues in their various activities, of particular note currenlty being their meeting with the Financial Services Commission. Finally, GANT will be applying to form part of the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council, something that will be more formally moved once the Association is formally constituted.

As a trade association, GANT aims to develop strong lines of communication and cooperation within the industry and to promote high standards of professional conduct. It also works to bridge the gap between the government and the regulator on one side, and the private sector businesses and the professional services involved with them on the other, all with the intention of keeping Gibraltar at the leading edge of new technologies and business.
